Can I use the hot tub if sanitiser is low?
We strongly recommend not using your hot tub if sanitiser levels are below the safe range. Low sanitiser means the water is not properly disinfected, which can cause skin irritation or infections. Top up your sanitiser, let it circulate for at least 30 minutes, then retest before getting in.
What should I fix first — pH or sanitiser?
Sanitiser should always be your first priority, as it protects users from bacteria. However, if pH is very high (above 8.0) or very low (below 6.8), it can make sanitiser much less effective. As a rule: check sanitiser first, then pH, then alkalinity. Getting all three in range gives the cleanest, safest water.
How often should I change spa water?
Most hot tub owners should do a full water change every 3 to 4 months, depending on usage. Regular testing and correct chemical dosing can help extend the life of your water. If your water becomes persistently cloudy, foamy, or difficult to balance, it may be time for a fresh fill.
What is the difference between chlorine and bromine?
Both chlorine and bromine are sanitisers that kill bacteria and keep your water safe. Chlorine works faster and is slightly more cost-effective, but can be more sensitive to pH changes. Bromine is gentler on skin, stays stable over a wider pH range, and is often preferred for indoor spas.
